Your hosts in Nishijin
Expo Hostel & Cottage has been part of life in Nishijin since 2015. Today our small local team looks after six cottages and eight rooms. We live nearby, and we take care of every room ourselves.

Yusuke
Yusuke is our managing director, and the person you’re most likely to meet at check-in. He believes the best local tips are given face to face — ask him about coffee, hiking, or the ramen shop around the corner. His least useful skill: a little juggling.
The team
Behind the scenes is a small team who clean, fix, draw maps, update the event list every month and reply to messages every day of the year.
How we host
When you arrive, we sit down with you for a proper welcome — and you leave with a printed pack we update every month: our hand-drawn map of the neighbourhood, a Kyoto transit map, the markets and events on during your stay, and a few tips for the public bath and for cycling in Kyoto.
We’re here every day of the year. Message us anytime and our team will reply within a day, usually much sooner.
